Jamaicans in the Diaspora, living in Canada, now have an extra outlet to send remittances to the island, courtesy of a new agreement between VM Money Transfer Services Limited (VMTS) and Remitbee Online Money Transfer and Foreign Exchange Services.
Remitbee offers online remittance services for individuals and businesses in Canada wishing to send money to other parts of the world, with quick transfers, competitive rates and select discounts. Customers may also send top-ups to international mobile numbers and convert foreign currency through the agency’s app or web platform. This agreement represents the fourth partnership for VMTS in the North American country.
In endorsing the partnership, Chief Executive Officer of VMTS, Michael Howard, shared, “we understand the importance of remittances to our economy and to the individuals who depend on these services for personal and business pursuits. The statistics show that Canada remains one of the top three countries for remittance inflows to Jamaica, so this partnership will allow us to provide not just an added outlet to expand our reach, but also increase convenience for our clients, which is a welcomed opportunity.”
The Remitbee team, whose Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Yogi Yoganathan, visited Jamaica to formally sign the agreement on January 12, 2024, maintains that the partnership is a worthwhile venture. In a statement, Chief Operating Officer, Manos Yoganathan, commented, “we’re thrilled to partner with VM Money Transfer Services to empower the Jamaican community in Canada with fast, affordable, and secure money transfer solutions. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to our customers and their families, making it easier than ever to send support back home.”
Through its network, VMTS facilitates money transfer services globally to customers sending money to Jamaica from Europe, the UK, United States, Canada, the Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos. Customers can enjoy the flexibility and convenience of collecting their remittances in Jamaica from VM Money Transfer’s over 70 sub-agents, 8 VM Money Express locations and 16 VM Building Society branches islandwide. Receivers can also opt to have their funds deposited directly to their Jamaican bank account through VMTS’ Direct to Bank Service.
The VMTS CEO says the agency is committed to continuously exploring lucrative partnerships that transform the money transfer experience for their clients.
