Key leaders of the VM Group embarked on an event-filled week-long tour in New York from September 3 to 9, 2022, kickstarted by a Fun Day featuring an exhibition football match between VM-sponsored Jamaica Premier League champions, Harbour View FC, and a New York All-Star Caribbean team.
The primary events of the tour were two townhall meetings where VM leaders shared updates on the Group, including products and services that directly impact Members living outside of Jamaica; and answered questions from those who attended. The meetings were held in Brooklyn on Thursday, September 8 and in the Bronx on Friday, September 9.
Among the VM leaders who attended were Paul Elliott, Deputy CEO – Building SocietyOperations; Rezworth Burchenson, CEO – VM Investments Limited and VM Wealth Management Limited; Owen Bruce, Business Development Manager – VM Money Transfer Services; Leighton Smith, Chief Representative Officer – UK and Managing Director of VM Finance Limited, and Clover Moore, Assistant Vice President – Corporate Affairs &
Communications at the VM Group.
Scores of VM Members and prospective Members turned out at the townhall meetings to learn more about the happenings at the VM Group which last year underwent an exciting brand transformation.
Leighton Smith, who has responsibility for all VMBS overseas representative offices, said the townhall meetings gave the VM leaders a welcome opportunity to engage directly with Members.
“VM has a special connection with members of the diaspora. In fact, we are the first Jamaican financial institution to have established overseas representative offices to serve Jamaicans living abroad and who wish to maintain financial ties to Jamaica, including purchasing homes on the island. We happily provide that personal service to make the process much more convenient and dreams more accessible,” he said.
The VM Group maintains a network of offices in the United Kingdom, Florida and New York, as well as business development activities in Canada.
