The VM Group on Thursday (November 16) made a donation of $145,000 to Holy Childhood High School in St Andrew, in an effort to bolster the school’s breakfast programme, as part of the financial group’s 145th anniversary celebrations.
“We are delighted to contribute to the Breakfast Programme at Holy Childhood High School. The VM Group is committed to giving back to our communities, and as we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we continue to recognise the importance of investing in areas that will make a meaningful impact in people’s lives and our nation’s future,” said Judith Forth-Blake, VM Group’s Chief Customer & Brand Officer.
Holy Childhood High School is an immediate neighbour to the VM Group’s corporate office in Half-Way Tree, making the donation a special occasion for both institutions. The donation adds to the Group’s ongoing work in helping to transform the academic journeys of students. This includes financial support totaling $7.1 million disbursed through scholarships and bursaries to students last year, via the VM Foundation Scholars Programme.
Conroy Rose, Group Chief Sales Officer, who was also at the handing over ceremony, said that while the donation will help to nourish more students with healthy meals, VM is also keen on initiating conversations on how to empower students through financial literacy.
“We look forward to supporting the educational journeys of these students through VM Group’s Schools’ Savings Programme. It is designed to provide students at the primary and secondary levels with a secure and rewarding savings solution, while helping them achieve financial well-being by developing financial discipline and good savings habits,” he said.
Sister Maxine McIntosh, principal of the Holy Childhood High School, lauded the donation from the VM Group. She said: “We are grateful to VM Group for their generosity. This donation will make a difference in the lives of our students by ensuring that they have access to a meal that will not only nourish their bodies but will also boost their energy levels and concentration as they work towards academic success.”
The VM Group is celebrating its 145th anniversary and Members’ Month under the theme ‘Thriving Together- Celebrating 145 Years of Impact and Inspiration’.
